WHAT WE DO
A portal and a gathering place
Bali International is a news, information, and directory portal that studies Bali as a case study in global development.
Most websites about Bali fall into one of two categories. They are either travel guides — telling you where to eat, sleep, and party — or policy reports — analyzing Indonesia’s economy from a distance. We do something different.
We look at Bali from both angles at once.
A beach club is not just a place for a sunset cocktail. It is also a business that employs Balinese staff, sources local produce, and makes choices about waste and energy that affect the island’s future. An NGO is not just a charity. It is an organization testing new models for health, education, and environmental stewardship that could scale across Indonesia and beyond.
We document these stories. We connect them to global frameworks — the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Indonesia’s national development plans, and the research published on our parent platform, RYB Global Development.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT
Culture of Peace — not a UN framework
Our focus is not on government targets or institutional programmes. We care about culture — the arts, creativity, community, and the kind of peace that grows between people when they genuinely connect.
UNESCO calls this a Culture of Peace. We think Bali already embodies much of it. Our job is to amplify that, share it, and help build the conditions for more of it.
